What Causes Blood In Stool?

default
Posted on Wed, 19 Oct 2016
Question: For the past couple of years if I strain to poop I see a tiny dot or two of blood. If I jog I can see it as well. That area is itchy often as well. I am assuming if it has been a few years I probably would have noticed other symptoms by now if it were more serious and my CBC comes back good but I just want to make sure I shouldn't be concerned. I figured it was just a fissure or hemorrhoid but a friend just died of colon cancer at 34 so I want to make sure.

Brief Answer:
Hi, a spotting of blood on straining or passing stools

Detailed Answer:
Hi, a spotting of blood on straining or passing stools along with itching is probably a haemoorhoid. I would suggest a local cream with calcium channel blocker like Cremagel, and another cream containing lidocaine and a steroid-- like anovate along with a stool softener like psyllium husk in soluble form to be taken at night. Try this for a fortnight. But I notice that you also have to go to the toilet after every meal. So it may be a good idea to get a colonoscopy done. You are welcome to revert back. But if you find improvement you can indicate so. Regards
