Question: I received a epidural steroid injection in my neck for pain. the very next day I found what looked likepider bites on my belly and leg, they got bigger and bigger and more painful (really painful).in about four days I wound up in emergency getting them cut drained and packed.than I was admitted to hospital with "cellulitas . " while there my blood sugar level was around 255 and I was given insulin WHAT ????. on the forth day be fore they sent me home , the doctor came in and told me the blood testa had come back and in fact it was mrsa.could all this be related to my injection the week before? when I did receive the injection it was WAY more painful than the one I got in spring AND he took it apon himself to bump up the doze from 6 to 8. what the hell is happening to me??? WORST PAIN I COULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED!!

Brief Answer:
It is an allergic reaction to the injected drug.

Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you to my virtual clinic HCM!
I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

It is called anaphylactic reaction to medication and thank God you survived by timely care through hospital care.

Yes, you are right in that question, Yes, it definitely is related to the injection. The drug reacted and it was due to that reaction. It lead to Cellulitis and then it was secondarily infected by MRSA bacteria.

And if you are not a known diabetic, be informed that high sugar levels and insulin use at hospital was all stress related. I will suggest you to go for Fasting blood sugar levels and HbA1c levels from a laboratory too to rule out if you have diabetes if you are not diagnosed diabetic yet.

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you in no time. If satisfied here, please give a generous five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.
For any disease you have, a timely follow-up after sometime regarding the treatment efficacy and to see any need to change the treatment options is very necessary. Keep a follow up some days after this visit session ends.

Brief Answer:
It depends on what was the chemical drug in the injections.

Detailed Answer:
I welcome you back!

If the next time injection will be helpful or not, all depends what was the medicine in first injection, the second injection and what it may be in the next injection to be taken in future.

Kindly ask your doctor the name of the injection you took this time, and keep it safe as a medication allergy. If you need in future an injection for neck pain, tell your doctor before hand about this allergic event so that he may go for some alternatives.
