Brief Answer:
chances of lung cancer are very unlikely

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am Greetings

gone tihathrough your question diligentland I can understand your concern

I am listing here the common causes of bad smell in nose

a lump (polyp) in nostrils
sinus disorder
foreign body in nasal cavity

Bad breath may occur in various disorders of food pipe and stomach ,throat and lungs or dental problem like peroodontal diseases

I would like further information to rule out/suspect lung cancer as follows

1Do you smoke
2 do you have any family history of lung cancer
3 have you ever been exposed to occupational carcinogens

Shoulder and neck pain might be related to muscle spam or posture related problem

your age and medical history as such is not in favor of lung cancer but it can't be ruled out

You should worried but not so much until diagnosis confirmed

please make a visit to ENT surgeon for thorough clinical examination and a sniff test (breath test)
if it comes inconclusive see a dentist for dental check up

meanwhile, maintain good hygiene
have a healthy diet
gargling with antiseptic solution

I Hope you will find my response helpful and informative please feel free to our ask for follow up questions

wishing you good health
Regards

Yes I do smoke and have done since I was 11 ( I am now 35!). There is no history of lung cancer in my family and I have not been exposed to any occupational carcinogens (that I know of !)

Could the breath and nose smell be linked?

The upper back/shoulder pain has been there for over a month

Brief Answer:
bad breath could be related to bad nose smell

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am thanks for your reply

Bad Breath could be related to bad smell of nose as I have already mentioned the common causes of bad breath (halitosis)

lung cancer can be ruled very easily by various screening tests like chest X ray HRCT or bronchigraphy and clinical examinations

since you have been smoking since the 11 years of age so it's a known risk factor for lung cancer
chronic cough, weight loss or bloody sputum are common presentation for lung cancer

I would advise you to go for physiotherapy along with analgesic drugs like diclofenac for shoulder and upper back pain

I hope this answers your question, please feel free to ask for further clarification or follow up questions I will gladly answer you

Best Wishes
