What Causes Back Pain And Swelling?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Oct 2014
Question: My father is 67 yrs old and he has been complaining about back pain and swelling since 3 days. Today the test reports shows that he has a creatinine level of 2.21 and the scan reports indicate prostatomegaly. The doctor has said that the back pain and swelling near his spine (towards the left, just above the lower back) has nothing to do with these test reports.

Brief Answer:
Back pain and report may have no relation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,

After going through your query I concluded that your father is 67 years of age so his creatinine is increased to level of 2.21 as aging cause deterioration of kidney function. Similarly he has prostatomegaly another disease of aging. He has back pain and swelling from 3 days, it is most likely muscular as duration is only three days. Its treatment is analgesics and muscle relaxants and rest for few days. Swelling can only be related to increased creatinine if it is related to kidney ,it can be confirmed by ultrasound /CT of kidney.
Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Wishing your father good health.
Take care.
