What Causes Auditory Hallucinations And Somatic Delusions?
Question: hello doctor My husband is taking Maxpride 50mg, Tolaz 5mg, Sycodone2mg, Supradyn these tablets he had a problem that some voices are hearing snakes are in his body and many sounds doctor prescribed these tablets. Is he suffering from schizophenia And how long these medicines should be continued. Please help me.

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.
He is currently taking maxpride (amisulpride), tolaz (olanzapine) and syncodone (risperidone). All are anti-psychotic medicines. Supradyn is multivitamin tablets. Anti-psychotic medicines are used in treatment of psychotic type of psychiatric problems. He has complaints of hearing of voices which are called auditory hallucinations. Feeling of having snakes in body is somatic delusion. Both these symptoms are symptoms of schizophrenia. According to DSM-5 or ICD-10 he may have schizophrenia. For confirm diagnosis detail history and mental status examination is required by a psychiatrist.
If diagnosis of schizophrenia is confirmed he must take medicines for at least one year after 100% improvement.
Whatever the diagnosis is there according to my opinion he does not need 3 anti-psychotic medicines at a time. All are used in very low dose. I suggest taking second opinion.
Let me know since when he has such symptoms and how is his social and occupational life going on?

Thank u so much doctor. He is an innocent guy in this he doesnt have an aware of internet also he was taking tablets for 6 months as he stopped 10 days later he got hearing some voices and someone is standing and doing operation for him he was in dubai that time didnt sleep for 4 days he went and told everything to his HR manager he told the problem as it is they sent him XXXXXXX and sent an termination letter as he is not fitted. As a wife he didnt wished me on birthdays no gifts he will say i forget everything that is happening even didnt know about the menstural cycle such an innnocent guy he wnt be in one place permanently will be change his work with some misunderstanding always. Now this mental issue here one doctor said he has take the tablets life long is it true i dnt know whats happening in my life. Please help me

We got married on sep 9 2012 he finished his m.com on the day of first night he told that he was hearing dog sound anklets sound someone is calling by his name i thought he is in new atmosphere he used to say this often i didnt know its mental disorder he stayed with me for 2 months in this period he is not such an romantic person we went XXXXXXX for honeymoon there he will walk alone days went he went to singapore i got pregnant he never asked about my checkups he never fullfilled my.normal expectations by the time he was in singapore also he used to say often he was hearing some sounds he came after 2 years that time his behaviour was abnormal when i used to sit he will come and fight with me that i am starring at him i am talking about him to others. We went to doctor he gav medicines maxpride50mg zisper was taking that for 6 months he stopped after that by that period he was in dubai it become severe there and he came to XXXXXXX he will obey his mother words in three years he didnt take the decision by own everything he depends on mother or me. He will forget his bday mine anniversery day we didnt go outside till now when he came from dubai he told he is not intrested in sex. Now my parents came to know everything and telling me to come out of that life now the problem started. He will believe whatever i said if i am crying in the middle of night he doesnt know that if i am talking in the phone for long time he will never cares that i didnt get any gifts or outing nothing in my life he doesnt even know what i like or doesnt like. If you feel you are cheated and you want to separate you can take legal help. If your marriage done without disclosure of his illness, according to law marriage is not valid. Please take him to some other local psychiatrist and try to find out the details.
