What Causes Anxiety, Constipation, Head Congestion And Pressure In Ears?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: Could I have a parasite, for the past 2.5 weeks I've been having anxiety/panic attacks, plus constipation, head congestion and pressure in ears. I also had a cold around the same time that I got over. And today I had a bowel movement and noticed my stool was kind of green/grey with white specks in it, what do you think could be wrong with me? I also have weird quivers under my right rib? Could it be a parasite?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Anxiety is one of the more common medical conditions seen. It is not known to occur as a result of parasitic infection.

Head congestion and pressure in the ear would be due to the cold that you were having, these symptoms occur often with the common cold. They are not likely due to any parasitic infection.

Constipation is most commonly due to not using enough dietary fiber and fluids. Most persons do not use enough fiber. At least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables are needed daily.
If you are not able to use this enough, you may want to consider a fiber supplement such as benefiber, metamucil or citrucel.

Change in color of stool is most commonly related to foods used and normally resolves on its own.

If you are worried about a gastrointestinal parasite then you can consider deworming yourself with medications such as zentel. This may be available over the counter at your local pharmacy. This would effectively treat a gastrointestinal
parasite if one is present.
If you wish your doctor can send a stool sample to the lab.

Parasitic infection can occur in different parts of the body. The most common sites would be the gastrointestinal tract, the brain, the skin, genital tract.
Certain parasites are seen in certain parts of the world. Most are in low income or low developed countries.

In the US the parasites that may be seen are: (1) dog heart worm- very rare
(2)certain tape worms
(3)threadworm
(4)worms that cause lymphatic filariasis (known as elephantiasis)

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
