Brief Answer:
Can be muscle or ligement tear.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The swelling with a dent in the musculature can be due to a muscle tear or a ligament tear. The swelling around the ankle can be due to pooling of blood in the area.
Such soft tissue injuries need investigations like MRI scan for proper diagnosis. Pain killers can provide only a temporary relief. Color doppler is also needed to rule out a blood clot. It is best to consult an orthopedician for detailed examination and proper treatment. Do keep the leg elevated till then.
I hope this answers your query.
