Brief Answer:
Features are suggestive of acidity related stomach upset.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I appreciate your concern for the upper abdominal pain.

Heartburn, or pain behind the breastbone, is a condition in which there is reflux of acid from the stomach into the sensitive esophagus caused by a relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter, the ring of muscle between the esophagus and the stomach.
Foods like dietary fat, chocolate, coffee, onions, alcohol, citrus fruit, and tomatoes, have been associated with increased incidence of acid reflux in susceptible persons.

Heartburn is the most frequently reported symptom after coffee drinking. It is demonstrated that coffee

Caffeine stimulates gastric acid secretion and reduces the competence of the lower esophageal sphincter thus promoting gastro-oesophageal reflux.

Each shot of expresso coffee contains as much as 70-80 mg of caffeine per 44 ml or 1-5 fl Oz.

So in view of the above explanation, excessive coffee consumption is responsible for the heart burn or Gastro esophageal reflux disease.

The most effective drugs used in the treatment of GERD are Proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole, etc.

Take one tablet every day one hour before the breakfast for at least 4-6 weeks.

You must avoid excessive coffee intake, stress, alcohol consumption, fatty meals, chocolates etc.

Do not sleep immediately after having the dinner, sleep at least 2-3 hrs after having the dinner. Regular exercise, light dinner meal, use yoghurt in the dinner.

Hope the suggestions given above could be beneficial in getting the treatment for heart burn or GERD.

Should you need more information, please feel free to send your query.

Wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
You must reduce coffee intake gradually.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back!

I understand the nature of your job, however giving importance to your health is also equally important. Over a period of several weeks you may gradually reduce the no of expresso shots and other risk factors.

Caffeine-free herbal coffee Teeccino could be a better alternate choice.

It has certain advantages:
It helps coffee drinkers replace their regular or decaf coffee.
It has a delicious, deep roasted flavor that is very coffee-like.
It gives an enticing aroma and a natural energy boost.

Hope this suggestion could be of great help to you.

Once again, wishing you best of your health.
Take care of your health.
