What Causes A Red Spot On The Head Of The Penis?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 May 2017
Question: Hi- i have noticed a red mark on the head of my penis. It doesnt hurt, not a bump. I noticed it during masturbation/sexual activity two days ago with my wife. I was tested for stds nearly 2 years ago and all results came back negative. Any idea what this could be? Feels like an irritation mark, but wanted professional input.

Brief Answer:
Use a topical antibiotic for a week

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist and venereologist).
I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
This red mark on glans seems that it is most likely a superficial erosion due to trauma during sex. Does not seem like an STD. I suggest you to apply a topical antibiotic e.g either 2% mupirocin ointment or Neosporin ointment, 2x daily.

Regards
