What Causes A Bulging Spot On The Left Abdominal Area?
Question: My son -24-forklift driver/heavy lifting; he's had a tough childhood/adolescence ADHD. I have worked in PT 30+ yrs he thinks I should be ble to do everything
Now moving into second fl apt
Left abdomen mid to upper quadrant -feels slight bulge
Hernia?
If so with his type of job how long would he be out of work?

The bulge its a hernia if when your son coughs or stregnthen the abdominal muscles, gets larger.
When he relaxes or lays down, it should get smaller or even dissapear.
If what I am saying above its not your case, then he might need an abdominal exam to rule out what the bulge is.
If the description above fits to what your son has, then its good that you have advised your son to wear the abdominal support.
I am afraid that being off work for some time, will be enough to not make it worse, but not enough to heal it completely. A hernia its a defect of the abdominal wall, so once it has formed the only way to repait it its a surgical repair. The other measures just delay the worsening.
