What Causes HSV And Mono Virus Infections In A Person With Plural Effusions?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Mar 2015
Question: Yes, was recently ill with plural effusions on both lungs, swelling in feet/ankles, high blood pressure, elevated liver engymes. After much blood work and CAT scan, etc., I was told that my body had the herpes simplex virus and the mono virus causing havoc in my body. What would cause that and should I have been given treatment? The symptoms eventually went away but have come back somewhat.

Brief Answer:
Treatment is mainly symptomatic.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

That may be caused by a insufficiency of immune system activity.
If you were diagnosed with herpesvirus and mononucleosis infection, one thing that needs evaluation is your immune system status.

Generally these viruses don't cause such prominent health issues, unless there's a imunocompromissed state.

There is no treatment for mononucleosis, herpesvirus can be treated in some degree ( not completely) with antiviral drugs (Aciclovir).

The treatment when these viruses cause moderate to serious health problems is mainly symptomatic.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
