What Casues Dizziness Along With Nausea And Vomiting?

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Dec 2014
Question: I am female 70 years old, good health, no medications, retired nurse. Cardiac XXXXXXX last year with only 20% lad blockage. My present problem, extreme dizziness, this am, broke out in cold sweat, unable to bend, extreme dizziness lying in bed when turning my head, nausea and vomiting. B/P 149/101, usually run low BP 90/60 or 100/70. Yesterday my chest was burning and pain in both arms after carrying some branches across the yard, but the temp outside was cold, symptoms quickly went away once inside. Do have GERD and take Prilosec.
I have had these symptoms once before 3 years ago while in the mountains and sick there for 3 days. We visited mountain area again a few weeks ago, no symptoms, but visited it again 2 days ago, my dizziness occurred day after returning home. I was under the impression that your Drs were on line and this would be a chat not a 24 hour turnover. I can call my Dr tomorrow. This is misleading with your advertisement. If I cannot receive answer to my question within hour or two, please cancel and do not charge my credit card.

Brief Answer:
Spondyloarthrosis of neck area, spikes in blood pressure, ear problems...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

Thank you for your queries.

I have gone through your medical history carefully and from what you are reporting, my thoughts go for possible:
- spondyloarthrosis of neck area
- oscillations (spikes) in blood pressure
- middle/inner ear problems.

When you had the episode (vomiting, dizziness), it might be debilitating, explaining why you broke out in cold sweat.

I advise to consult with your doctor as soon as possible for a further evaluation.

Meanwhile, I suggest to:
- keep your vertebrae of neck area well covered/warm ease your symptoms
- monitor your blood pressure, record the results to pass to your doctor
- take Prisolec as prescribed by your doctor
- be careful with foods/drinks you consume
- have light meals (yogurt, light soups, etc)
- use OTC painkillers orally and locally and OTC anti-vomit medications
- avoid sharp movements of head or rotating positions

Hope it was of help!

The cold sweat occurred probably 30 min prior to vomiting.

Brief Answer:
Thank you for providing additional data...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Thank you for providing additional data.

At this point, I should clarify that sometimes, stress situations can be associated with cold sweats. In your case, if cold sweats occurred prior to vomiting, this makes me think that you were facing severe dizziness during this time that limited your movements. Such situation is also known as "stress" by our body. Specifically, in your case, your body has responded with cold sweat break ups.

Chest pain you had might be due to cardiovascular issues or due to GERD. As you might probably know, GERD is aggravated if your head was down while you were collecting branches in the yard.

Cold temperature is another factor to aggravate GERD and for blood pressure oscillations or other cardio-vascular problems as mentioned earlier.

Hope it was of help!
