What Can Lead To A Small Lump Behind The Ear?
Question: I have a small lump the size of a pea behind my left ear. When pressed it drains blood and clear pus, sometimes creamy colored puss. It has an odor like cheese. What course of action do I need to take? I have tried alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, tea tree oil, and regular washing. Nothing seems to help.

The issue has been present for a few months. I do have scalp foliculitus. I wear safety glasses at work and I noticed it a few months back. While washing behind my ears it popped the first time. Since then it sometimes drains on own.
Brief Answer:
As detailed below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As per history, you have provided this looks to be one of the following:
An infected sebaceous cyst that keeps draining.
Infected post-auricular lymph node.
In either case, there is the formation of sinus and thus may need a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications - needs a valid prescription from your Doctor.
If this does not solve the issue then you may need excision of the lump for the cure.
Also, need to take proper treatment for scalp folliculitis.
I hope this answer helps you in proper diagnosis and management and possible cure.
