I am taking mecofol-plus,one-up gold, lycovision and megaza (omega 3 capsules) - 1 tablet each daily.

I was advised to take lycovision and mecofol-plus by a dermatologist. She advised mecofol-plus since i was having darkness at the corners of my mouth.

Brief Answer:
Personally speaking, there is over-prescription for multivitamins these days

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have understood it.

Although the supplements that you have been taking contain different active ingredients and therefore there is no fear of taking too much of a particular vitamin or mineral but personally I am not in favor of supplements.

You have been supplemented with almost everything.

If you are taking a healthy diet as other members in your family there is no need for a multivitamin.

I personally feel there is a lot of over-prescription these days without any indication.

The darkness that you mention at the corners may be an indication for methylcobalamin because it can happen in Vitamin B12 deficiency, specially if your are a strict vegetarian but I am not sure why were you prescribed an antioxidant, an omega 3 fatty acid and a multivitamin.

Nevertheless, most multivitamins have such a wide margin of safety that even when you're combining them or taking in addition to those present in your diet, it's still not going to cause any toxicity.

However, adverse drug reactions can happen to almost any medication including vitamins.

Brief Answer:
May get serum B12 levels checked; Multivitamin is not required.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Thank you for additional details.

You may get serum B12 levels checked and if found deficient you may continue with Vitamin B12 supplement for the next 4-6 months.

I don't see any problem with continuing Lycopene and Omega -3 fatty acids considering that you have have raised cholesterol.
Lycopene is good for skin as well as for heart. Omega-3 fatty acids are good for heart.

However I am not in favor of a multivitamin if you are taking a healthy diet just like others in family.
It won't serve any special purpose.
