What Are The Side Effects Of Having Extra Doses Of Rabies Vaccination?

Question: Sir I had a scratch and little bit of bite involved my teeth from my vaccinated dog as I provoked him!!doctor told me to have 0 3 7 3 shots only now it's 60 day over and dog is fine and playing with all family members!!sir as I was anxious and panick my doctor told me to have 4 and 5 shots as he told me that I'm highly anxious and told me that I'm 100% safe but giving u these 2 doses for your satisfaction as it don't side effect you!!he gave me 4 dose and 52 day and asked for fifth dose week later!!sir I have asked from various doctor and they all told me that I even don't need4 dose also and no need for 5 dose!!sir if I don't take 5 dose now will 4 dose do any harm as I have it 52 day??sir is there anything to worry or I can relax completely!!

I apologize for delay in reply. Unfortunately I do not have access to internet hence could not answer it on time.

However let me assure you that you would not have any problem with the dog bite and you would not die of rabies. You should be as healthy as a person who would not have got a dog bite. Interestingly the vaccination of dogs are much technically developed and would 100% protect them against Rabies.

Having said that since you had finished 4 doses for extra protection cover or anxiety or any other issues you had faced socially leave it where you are. You do not need a 5th dose as your doctor said. He is right. But your anxiety needs treatment. Let your doctor address that with short acting anxiolytic medication.

I can definitely say that you would not need a vaccination dose further.

Sir main concern is that if dog is not rabid and u have taken 4 shots of rsbies will it cause any side effect??

You had already taken 4 shots and still did not experience any side effect so very unlikely you would not harm with a 5th shot.

It is up to you to decide if you want to go further take the 5th shot or not, however it is not required.

No sir I'm not going for 5 dose as all doctor told me including you there is no need for 5 dose!!so sir now I can relax completely as there nothing to worry at all?
And sir one more interesting question sir if a drop of blood of unknown person who is infected or may not be infected with any disease falls on your skin and skin is not opened or not wounded will it lead to any disease!!as I mentioned skin is not open or wounded!!

No worries at all even if you do not take 5th dose.

If there is not cut in the skin, the chance of infection is not there. Skin is highly protective against all germs, microorganisms even virus.
