Brief Answer:
Contains Iron and folic acid. You can safely take it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms XXXXX,

Thank you very much for posting your health query here.

I can understand your concern.

Livogen-Z is a combination marketed by Merck pharmaceuticals and it contains Iron (in the form of ferrous fumerate) and Folic acid.

Hemoglobin requires both iron and folic acid for formation, so your doctor is right in advising you to take it.

The side-effects are negligible, but if you already have severe gastric irritation, then ferrous fumerate can make it worse. Otherwise, you will not have any other side-effects that you need to worry about, and more over, it is very much needed for you. I would advice you to take one tablet twice a day for at least 6 more months as your ferritin levels are low.

You can take it after food, preferably not with milk, milk can reduce the absorption. You can change the timing of your milk consumption.

I hope this answers your question, feel free to write back to me if you have any more questions.

Best regards.
