What Are The Side Effects Of CIprodex?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 May 2015
Question: I inadvertently put ciprodex in my little boy's eyes, grabbing the wrong bottle and thinking it was the eye drops. He didn't complain or react. I immediately flushed as much as possible and put the eyebrows in to dilute. He hasn't complained. What should I do? Should I keep him awake or let him go to bed? I can't believe I did this stupid thing.

Brief Answer:
No worries, Just slight irrigation

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. CIprodex is a combo of ciprofloxacin and dexamethasone. It is used for ear but applying to eyes may cause irritation and inflammation but dexamethasone take care of any serious injuries, flush the eyes with cool tap water as soon as possible. The ciprodex may cause some temporary irritation, but I don't think it is anything to get too worried about.

Just keep an eye over the eye and if any change like redness or pain occur apply some topical steroid eye drops or see an ophthalmologist.

Right now just let the kid go to bed after a thorough eye wash with cold or tepid water.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
