Question: I was just put on Glipizide 5mg, is there much of a weight gain with this med? I was on Medformin , did not

It is true that Glipizide causes mild weight gain. But the weight gain is usually mild of less than 10% of your current body weight. Here is what you should do

1. Continue to take Glipizide and be compliant with the medication
2. Cardiovascular exercises everyday for at least 30 min in form of walking, cycling, swimming etc.
3. Add more fibre in the form of veggies and fruits to avoid weight gain
4. Cut down on calories
5. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water daily. Dont substitute water with other forms of liquids like juie, aerated drinks, etc
5. Watch your weight every once in 15 days and modify your lifestyle accordingly
