What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy When Treated For PCOD?

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Dec 2014
Question: Hi,
I was diagnosed with PCOD 2 years back, but I had not taken any treatment for this. After my marriage, I had been to a gyneic and she prescribed me contraceptives for 3 months. As I am trying for pregnancy, during my previous menstrual cycle, I was prescribed with Oviduct and Ycyst M, but there were no dominant eggs developed. For this menstrual cycle, my gynic prescribed me with Clomipure (D2-D6), Myestra (D7-D15), Gestofit (D16-D26) and Ovacet (D2-D28). Could you please tell me the chances of getting pregnant with my condition and the medicines that I am asked to take?

Brief Answer:
Dont worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing..
I understand your concern..

Yes, these drugs helps to increase chance of conception..PCOS result in anovulation which is the cause of the infertility provided the semen analysis is normal..

On taking ovulation induction drug (clomipure), it helps the follicles to develop and hence ovulation takes place.. You need to get a follicular study from day 11 to know the exact time of ovulation to have a timed intercourse.. Ovacet helps in improving the quality of egg and needs to be continued till pregnancy.. Progesterone(Gestofit) helps in luteal phase support which helps to maintain the pregnancy.. So all these drugs need to be taken along with folic acid to attain pregnancy faster..

Can you write to me the content of myestra?

Dont worry.. Avoid fatty food, diet control and regular exercise to prevent excessive weight gain which furthur accelerates PCOS..

Hope I have answered your query.. Feel free to ask any doubts.. Good day..

Hi,

Thank you so much for the response. I feel somewhat relieved now.

MyEstra is Estradiol Valerate tablets.

My doc did not prescribe me with any folic acid tablets. So, do you think I should start using medicine containing folic acid?

I have one more query regarding the amount of semen that needs to enter my uterus. After my intercourse, the semen happens to comes out of my vagina. Is it necessary to stay in the same position (missionary) for sometime so that the semen enters the uterus? In that case, I have tried staying in the same position for 5 mins, but then, the semen still comes out. When I wash my vagina after the intercourse, I feel that all the semen has come out. Is there any way to know if the required amount of semen has entered the uterus. Could you please help me in clarifying this?

Brief Answer:
Need not worry

Hi,
Thanks for writing..

You can take MyEstra also.. It helps to build up the endometrium..

It would be better to take folic acid.. Consult your doctor for the prescription..

Just one sperm will be enough to fertilise the ovum.. Semen contains a lot of seminal fluid which is coming out with few sperms.. Actively motile sperms would enter the uterus.. Just lie down for a few minutes in straight position.. That would be sufficient..

Hope I have answered your query.. Good day
