What Are The Chances Of Getting Tardive Dyskinesia While On Seroquel?

Question: Following divorce stress my dr dx me with GAD & insomnia. Says I may have light depression. I take 100mg seroquel/night to sleep. Am i at risk for tardive dyskinesia?

RIsk of tardive dyskinesia (TD) with seroquel is extremely rare.
Rather, seroquel is known to improve symptoms of TD if these develop in any person taking a psychotropic drug.

negligible chances of permanent vision impairment

Some cases of cataracts have been reported with seroquel.
But again, this side effect is very rare and is seen when doses beyond 600-800mg are taken.

So, there is negligible chance of permanent vision impairment with seroquel at 100mg/day dose.

My dr says I will not be on it forever bc my problem is situational but I literally can not sleep without it my anxiety is so bad?

If your anxiety relapses with out seroquel, you can take the drug regularly.

If your anxiety has improved, dose reduction can be considered under your doctor's supervision.
