What Are The Chances Of HIV Transmission Through Protected Intercourse?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Sep 2016
Question: Hi,
I recently had sex with a female sex worker. After she
removed the condom, and she cleaned off her vaginally fluid from the
condom prior to removal. She then used the same wipe to clean the
shaft of my penis, and also touched the head of my penis in the process.
What is my risk of exposure?

Brief Answer:
Risk low if you did not have any fresh cuts or injuries on your penis.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Strictly speaking that is not the way of doing things and that some contact with the female secretions has indeed taken place, and that is not what you should allow to happen in the future. But from a practical point of view, this should not significantly increase the risk of exposure, assuming that you do not have any fresh cuts on the head or shaft of your penis. If you indeed have a raw wound on your penis, the scenario would change however.

I hope I have been able to explain the situation to you.

Feel free to write back.

Is it possible for the secretions to enter the urethra by wiping a contaminated baby wipe over the opening of the penis? Do you recommend testing?

Brief Answer:
I don't recommend testing

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for the delay in responding.

I don't think that you need to get tested.

It could indeed be a sign of sexual addiction. Psychological counseling should help you overcome it.

Dear doctor saha,
Thank you for your help. My primary concern is that I don't pass an sti on to ssome innocent. The HPV virus can cause cervical cancer in women, can men contract it as described above and pass it on?
I have one last question. If I used a cheap latex condom (sure condoms) which bore the CENTRE mark, but not the kite mark, would it put me at great risk?
Which bore the CE mark, but not the kite mark
Would it put me at greater risk? I feel I should get tested,

Brief Answer:
Cheap would not matter

Detailed Answer:
Cheap latex condoms without kite mark should not matter. If apprehensive you can go ahead and get tested although I doubt if it is required.

Thanks doctor saha,
Do you think men who have had more sexual partners (female) are at greater risk of developing cancer (HPV) or are their future female partner at risk due to the man's risky sexual bbehaviour?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (9 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
HPV can lead to increase in chances of getting penile cancer or anal cancer in men. HPV can also cause cancer in the back of the throat, including the base of the tongue and tonsils (called oropharyngeal cancer). The chances of HPV infection increase in case of multiple sexual partners and high risk benaviour.
