Question: I had been drinking a couple of bottles of wine a day for two weeks. I stopped 9 days ago. How long does it take for liver enzymes to get back to normal levels?

The time needed to normalise liver enzymes may vary depending on how much the underlying liver is damaged it might vary from two weeks to even two years in some cases.
Those who have significant underlying liver scarring may take longer time than those who have mild swelling and no scarring of liver.
If you have a short history of drinking then the enzymes are likely to be normal early however if it is prolonged and significant drinking it takes longer.
