Suggest Ways To Improve Self Esteem

Question: Hi Doctor, I have a problem of self confidence and self esteem . I think what others think rather than going to them and telling about my views, I decide their feelings by myself and stop telling what i want to tell them. How can i overcome that problem ?

There are several ways to improve your self esteem. It is a problem that many of us suffer from especially at a young age. You have to learn that your thoughts and ideas are just as valuable as those of anyone else. You have to learn to love yourself. This can take some time and work.
Here are a couple excellent books that can help:
The Self-Esteem Workbook, by XXXXXXX R. Schiraldi
The Self-Esteem Guided Journal: A 10-Week Program by XXXXXXX McKay PhD, XXXXXXX Sutker

Another suggestion is to join a local Toastmasters group. The one in your area is
Flower Mound Toastmasters.

This is an organization that teaches you public speaking and self-confidence. They will be kind and help you in more ways than you can imagine. Even if you are terrified of public speaking I urge you to try it. It will help you enormously.

Another suggestion is to work with a therapist. A great type of therapy for improving self esteem is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Here is a link to a therapist in your area that does this type of therapy.
