Question: I have high cholesterol and I need to find a diet that will bring it down to reasonable, safer levels.
I want to avoid cholesterol medication if I can. What steps can you recommend?

I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
Though you have fair idea of wrong and right but still , I have following advice for you,
1.Start exercising to your potential, it will not only help in reducing cholesterol but also in over all well being, and reduction in weight.
2.Take skimmed dairy product.
3.Cut down salt and sugar intake.
4.Take high protein, high fiber and low carbohydrate diet.
5. Drink lot of water.
6.Do use multivitamins.
7.Get your thyroid function test done, if not already got it done in near future.
Vitamin supplements are not helpful to reduce cholesterol.
Hope all these measures will make you very sound as for as your over all health is concern, and you need not add any medication.
