Brief Answer:
probably positional vertigo

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

this symptom is commonly caused by benign positional vertigo. Movement initiates a short period of vertigo with nystagmus after a short lag (half a minute or so). Staying still relieves the symptoms.

The first thing you should do is to visit a doctor, either your primary care physician or an ENT specialist to confirm the diagnosis with clinical examination. If it's this type of vertigo then there are effective treatment measures. Drug treatment does not help usually but may be given as a supplement to the main treatment. The main treatment consists of adopting certain positions on the examination bed with the help of the physician. Depending on the type of vertigo different positions will be required.

Most patients (over 80%) will get immediately better.

Thank you. If it normally spontaneously resolves would I be just fine to wait it out?

Brief Answer:
you can wait it out if the symptoms are over

Detailed Answer:
You're welcome!

If the symptoms are already gone then there is no reason to do anything more. If you still have symptoms that affect your functionality and in order to confirm the diagnosis, you'd better visit the doctor.

Kind Regards!
