Suggest Treatment For Ventricular Tachycardia

Question: I am 70...5ft. 6 in.....180... i had one episode of rapid heart beat a week ago. I was diagnosed with supra ventricular tachycardia...cardiologist saw it on ekg and prescribed diltiazem 120mg ... every day... i have had no probs in avweek... blood p is good. I am still taking 20 mg of benecar and have been for 5 years. Question is--- do i have to take it for the rest if my life??? And why does someone develop SVT????

Hope you are doing fine. It's good to hear that you didn't had any more episode of SVT and your blood pressure is well maintained.

As I have told in your earlier query that it's advisable to continue with the medicines as prescribed to maintain blood pressure and prevent the reoccurrence of SVT. I don't think there should be any problem taking these medicines when we know they are going to be helpful.

Common causes of SVT includes

Electrolyte imbalance, Stress, Anxiety, Alcohol intake Thyroid disorders, Mitral valve disease, excessive consumption of caffeine containing drinks like coffee, Smoking and also age related degeneration that happen in the musculature of heart.
