Question: Hello.... i am experiencing symptoms of balanitis. But i am worried it maybe an STD, i had unprotected sex with a woman around 10 days ago. I saw a medic 2 days ago and he tested my urine for bacteria and said its all clear. But i have irritation and clear discharge occasionally. So you think this is something to worry about? What can i do to help it? I am currently offshore on a ship for a few weeks so cant get to a clinic. Thanks for any help. XXXX.

Brief Answer:
Urethritis, Azithromycin

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
Based on the information it might be urethritis. It is important to do investigation and find the cause. Microscopic examination and culture of the discharge is required.
I think it is not possible for you to go for investigation now, as you are offshore.
I would suggest you to drink plenty of water and you may try a single tablet of Azithromycin 500 mg. if there is no response, or if symptoms increases you need to visit your doctor. Kindly make the necessary arrangements.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your response. The only antibiotic we have here at the moment is Ciprofloxacin 500mg. Would this be good enough? If so what dosage?
Thanks
