Suggest Treatment For Throat Pain And Difficulty In Swallowing

Question: I've been for the past week having a feeling of something stuck in. my throat.it's a little hard to swallow and when I eat I feel like I'll choke when I swallow. xray for my throat at the hospital said I didn't have anything in my throat everything looked normal. not sure what it could be???? I had a clicking noise when I swallowed.

Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I have reviewed you information fully and the images. Though the tonsils look increased in size, they cannot cause the sensation of a foreign body or make you feel like choking each time you swallow. Acid reflux is a common cause of feeling something stuck at the back of the throat. In most instances, it is associated with pain but you seem not to report any.

For now, I will suggest that you take omeprazole 20mg capsules once daily. Report progress to em after 5days. We will make more decisions depending on your response on this drug.

a Dr gave me meds for acid reflux it doesn't feel like there's anything as bad in my throat now but a little it does

it doesn't feel like there's something stuck asmuch now a little but not a lot. but feels like weird when swallow idk if it's tonsil stones. tonsillitis. or cancer

There is nothing suggestive of cancer and the short duration is not compatible with cancers. Cancers take several months to ever develop and become an issue.

With no pain, tonsillitis and a stone are unlikely. I will suggest that you stay calm and monitor your response to treatment at this time.

Acid reflux is the most common cause of foreign body sensation in the throat. I Will suggest that this gets managed first. If you do not respond, then I will recommend an upper endoscopy to look int into the throat and oesophagus.
