Question: Hello Doctor, hope this message finds you well.

My lower lip began swallow unexpectedly in the right side. Last week I got the same happening to my upper lip. Then I took Benadryl and it went away in two days. Why could this be happening? I take three regular medications at night but have been taking these for about three years. Benezapril, Citalopran and sometimes Diclofenac.

Brief Answer:
It looks like allergic reaction.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,

Thanks for posting your query on HCM.

The recurring appearance of swelling of your lips show allergy. It could be the medicines that you are taking esp diclofenec or it could be to something else.

If it's only a minor symptom you may take antihistaminics like loratidin or cetrizine but if it increases in size or involves a considerable portion of your face you may have to visit ER or your PCP.
