Question: I was bending my left knee back , doing some stretching a couple of weeks ago and I felt a tightness on the outside of the knee. Since then the knee has become swollen and I feel tightness around the knee with some swelling of the entire knee.
Is this a hyperextended knee ?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
This is not a hyperextended knee.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

It seems to be muscle strain resulting in muscle spasm and stiffness. To get relief from the pain and for quick healing:
1. Do hot fomentation at the site to relieve spasm and stiffness.
2. Apply local anti-inflammatory gel 2-3 times a day.
3. Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and local swelling or inflammation.
4. Do not try to do exercise that involve painful muscles. Give proper time to heal.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care
