default
Posted on Thu, 22 Dec 2016
Question: Had a time of sciatic nerve in my back that seemed to leave and settle in the right knee with tenderness and stiffness on the inside of the knee (nagging). Recently has become very painful - hard to walk and put weight on the right side. Does not feel like a joint. It feels like something is torn down the inside of the right knee.

Brief Answer:
Meniscal cartilage degenerative tear

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

You seem to have a degenerative tear of the meniscal cartilage in your knee. This happens due to Osteoarthritis during ageing.

I suggest you get an Xray and if possible am MRI of the knee done.

Avoid squatting, cross leg sitting, climbing stairs and kneeling. Apply hot packs to the affected region. Take Tablet Acetaminophen and Tramadol combination twice a day for 10 days for pain relief.

If the arthritis is severe you may need a knee replacement. Also joint injections with steroid and hyaluronic acid can help after doing key hole surgery to remove a torn cartilage.

Do get the Xray and MRI of possible and upload for my review.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
