Brief Answer:
You need to put him through some tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting your query on HCM.

Beside the symptoms mentioned by you, I would like to know if:

He also has fever, sputum production or breathlessness?

He is a smoker?

Any history of allergy?

He on BP medicines like ACE inhibitors(Ramipril, Enalapril, Captopril)?

Suffers from Reflux Disease ie acidity and heart burn or any other ailment.

Since the cough has been there for a month now, you need to put him through some tests. To begin with get his basic blood counts, ESR and a x ray chest and a PFT. If required, more tests can be ordered subsequently.

You may continue with nebulization and inhaler till then for symptomatic relief.

Will try and answer if you have any further query.
