Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Painful Lump Like Sensation
Question: I have had a sore throat and the feeling of a lump in the middle like a glob of gob. The most disturbing and frightening is when I swallow it feels as if it has to go past a flap first. It is somewhat painful but mainly makes swallowing difficult.

I read it carefully and I understand your concern.
Since sore throats happen because of inflammation it involves some swelling in the faring. So the feeling that you have its normal to happen in thos case.
What we will need to rule out its if it is a bacterial infection or a viral one.
If you have fever, absence of cough and you notice swollen tonsils and white spots on them, then its most probably a strep throat which will require the use of an antibiotic. Amoxicillin 500 mg 3 times/day for 10 days it the first line treatment (unless you are allergic from Penicillin)
If you have cough and runny nose and a mild fever, then these symptoms will last for 3 days and will go away gradually, because it is most probably a viral infection.
Take Ibuprofen 400 mg for the pain, drink plenty of fluids and vitamin C, do gargles with salt and water to relieve pain.
