Suggest Treatment For Slight Pneumonia, Swollen Legs, Hands And Feet

Question: I went to the ER Sun. Because I've had swollen legs, hands and feet for a couple of weeks. Blood work done, and chest X-ray and EKG. I have a slight case of pneumonia. I don't why my swelling wasn't addressed. But after five hrs in the ER I just to get out of there. Swelling is still there but think the antibiotics are helping. I was told to get an echocardiogram done and another chest X-ray. Your thoughts please.m I'm not coughing, sneezing, wheezing at al?????

Hello,

there is no link between the swollen legs and the infection. If the infection is well documented then treatment is required. Besides that, investigation is needed for the swelling. An echocardiogram is a good test to start from. Other useful tests would include serum albumin measurement, TSH measurement, d-dimers, urinalysis and an ultrasound scan of the leg veins.
