Question: Where can I get some breathing exercises to help with difficulty in getting enough air at times? Not a heart issue, an anxiety one.

Brief Answer:
Breathing exercises are taught in yoga courses

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Breathing exercises are very much available on internet but I cannot guarantee their effectiveness. These are mostly a derivative of some ancient practices.

The breathing exercises are included in some yoga courses. I know of a course called happiness program by art of living that offers a breathing technique called as XXXXXXX XXXXXXX It is effective in anxiety. This course is a 5 day course in which you learn the XXXXXXX and yoga so that you can do them at home. This course is conducted regularly worldwide. You can look for it locally at your place or you can let me know your place and I can suggest some courses happening in your vicinity.

Brief Answer:
Breathing techniques are best for anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

You are going on the right track. Breathing exercises are very effective in controlling anxiety. I am assuming that you have already tried medicines. I am writing down a few relaxing techniques for you.

1. Suppose if you are feeling anxious, go to your room, close the door, do not talk to anyone (talking makes it worse), and lie down on your back on a mat/carpet/blanket with hands on your side and feet apart. Let any thoughts come and go and just relax. You will feel much better with this simple process.

2. After lying down for sometime, turn to your right side and sit up comfortably. Do nine rounds of alternate nostril breathing as described below. It will relieve most of stress.

a. Sit comfortably with your spine erect, shoulders relaxed and eyes closed. Place your left hand on the left knee, palms open to the sky.
b. Place the tip of the index finger and middle finger of the right hand in between the eyebrows, the ring finger and little finger on the left nostril, and the thumb on the right nostril.
c. We will use the ring finger and little finger to open/close the left nostril and thumb for the right nostril.
d. Press your thumb down on the right nostril and breathe out gently through the left nostril.
e. Now breathe in from the left nostril and then press the left nostril gently with the ring finger and little finger.
f. Removing the right thumb from the right nostril, breathe out from the right.
g. Breathe in from the right nostril and exhale from the left.
h. You have now completed one round. Complete 9 such rounds by alternately breathing through both the nostrils.

After every exhalation, remember to breathe in from the same nostril from which you exhaled. You will feel relaxed after this process.

Hope it helps you.
