Posted on Mon, 29 Jun 2015
Question: Yes..I woke up about 3:00am and had a sharp pain under my left breast, shooting through to my back. I felt fine when I went to bed...and was surprised to feel this pain. But I still have the pain now...especially when I try to take a deep breath. What could this be? Should I go to the ER? Thank you

Brief Answer:
Better to get done ecg and 2d echo first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion you should immediately consult doctor in ER (emergency room) and get done ecg and 2d echo to rule out cardiac cause for your symptoms.
Your age is 62 years. So better to first rule out cardiac cause for your chest pain.
If both are normal then no need to worry much.
Simple musculoskeletal pain due to bad posture during sleep can also cause similar symptoms.
So apply warm water pad on affected site.
You may also need painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs for better symptomatic relief.
So first rule out cardiac cause.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
