default
Posted on Wed, 26 Oct 2016
Question: I have a sharp pain at the right side of my right knee about 1 inch from my knee cap. It is painful to push on the spot with my finger. Knee Doctor appointment is one month out and I will be leaving the country on vacation (lots of walking) in 3 weeks. What should I do ? Buy a brace? If so what kind?

Brief Answer:
Further imaging is required

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir

I can certainly understand your concern.

Pertaining to your history, it's advisable to get an MRI scan of the knee to ruke out ligamentous injury and to determine further course of action.

I would like to know if there is any history of trauma/injury to the involved knee.

Meanwhile analgesics like Diclofenac sodium 100 mg will help to improve the pain.

Brace should be preferably used only after imaging of the concerned area .

Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these tests and pills to you.

Post your further questions if any.
Thank you.
