Question: I have pain in lower left side groin area goes straight thru to back. It starts right around when period starts and continues past period.... I only get the pain every other month....only on the left side....my ob/gyn did a vaginal ultrasound and found nothing. only option is birth control...tried it for 3 months and it didn't help but when she wanted to try stronger I didn't want to. what else could this be?
Brief Answer:
antibiotics advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Most likely it is due to some localized inflammation in that area.
In my opinion take a course if antibiotics for 7 days after discussing with your gynecologist.
I usually give doxycycline with tinidazole for 7 days but since they are prescription drugs you need to meet your doctor to get the prescription
Take care

Wouldn't my doctor have seen the inflammation during the vaginal.ultrasound? I don't know if she will give me antibiotics if she doesn't see a reason to. Is there any other test she can do? The pain comes and goes. At times, it is mild and at times its like a stabbing pain. It feels like in my left ovary.
Brief Answer:
CT scan will be the next level of test
Detailed Answer:
Usuaally inflammation is not very much suggested by ultrasound and is most of the times a diagnosis of exclusion.
I understand your complaints and this is the only simple reason which can be possible after all the treatment and investigations done so far.
In case this also fails then you will have to go for a CT scan to see if there is anything else too.
