Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Knees

default
Posted on Sat, 22 Oct 2016
Question: i have chronic pain at the back of both knees. When I am sitting no pain when I get up can hardly walk. I am so scared that I will eventually not be able to walk. I have had no knee injuries . This pain behind my knees just started gradually about 3 months ago. It started at the same time as i started going to gym. I did mention to the qualified trainer about my weak knees and he gave me exercises that did not put pressure on my knees. At that stage my knees were not as bad as they are now.
I am overweight but not obese which I am sure is part of the problem but just need medical advice if this is the only cause.

Brief Answer:
Hi, temporary knee pain can occur to all of us especially at this age.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Temporary knee pain can occur to all of us especially at this age. As you rightly said, being overweight could be a factor.

But I think its more likely you've overdone walking especially uphill or gone on treadmill with an incline etc which has precipitated the problem. I would advise you to foment for 10 minutes with ice, followed by 10 minutes heat, followed by a gentle rub with a pain ointment like bengay, and then wear a knee cap. Do this twice a day for a week. If there is no relief, I think you should get the knees x-rayed and consult an Orthopedician.
Please do not worry, I think you''ll be fine. You can revert back to me with further queries and feedback.
