Suggest Treatment For Severe Neck Pain

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jan 2017
Question: Hi Doctor,

I have been suffering with pain in my right side of my neck (mostly vain) when I turn left or right. I tried visiting orthopedic and have got some medicines prescribed (muscle relaxants + pain killers and antacids). I have been taking those regularly.

The pattern of pain is little weird though. There is no pain in the morning or even in the afternoon. I start feeling pains post afternoon (approximately 3-4PM) and it continues till evening. I do apply some pain relief cremes or gels on my neck to feel better and take prescribed medicines.

Suffering from this kind of pain since more than a month now. It is not improving.

I am an IT engineer by profession. So I am usually in single posture for prolonged time. I used to work out in gym regularly but because of pain I have stopped working out completely.

Is there something wrong with my neck?

Brief Answer:
Get MRI cervical spine done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

You are having cervical spondylosis, to such an extent that its not cured by painkillers etc.

It is not ti be ignored.

So I advise you to get MRI of cervical spine done and send me the report.

I want to see present condition of vertebrae and nerves of neck region.

In the mean time in addition to painkillers etc add cap pregabalin 75 gm + methylcobalamine 750 mcg at night.

Do not try to do any of the exercise or going to gym in painful condition.

Do not drive or do heavy work at night.

Apply hot packs.

I hope you have got your answer.

Thanks,

Dr. CHANDER XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
