Brief Answer:
Headaches of this nature are often migraine types but remains to be seen

Detailed Answer:
Good afternoon. I am a neurologist and headache specialist practicing in XXXXXXX Ohio, USA and would like to give you some preliminary information that will hopefully recruit you into the protocol I've been utilizing with a great deal of success in my headache practice for over 10 years.

On the limited information you've provided and the basis of your description of these as "horrible headaches" for months which are localized to the right side then, my initial impression is that of chronic daily headaches likely of a migrainous nature. Having said that- I'll bet that was your diagnosis as well.....maybe even your mother told you that was what you had--perhaps, because she has similar headaches...or perhaps, it's just because she's your mom and that's part of her job---to be smart! LOL....

However, suggesting an intervention for your problem (which I'm sure is part of your interest in asking this question) really hinges on making the correct diagnosis. And making the correct diagnosis hinges upon getting much more information on your background, your other medical or health conditions, your family history, and of course, your headache history and how they've evolved over time.

In order to do this efficiently with an eye toward collating the most important parameters, all my patients fill out a HEADACHE DIARY and create a baseline of information that we then, analyze after 3-4 weeks of collection in order to come up with a good differential diagnosis. Often times I find that people have more than 1 type of headache at a time and so treatment needs to be tailored to as many different types of headaches as they have. Furthermore, decisions have to be made as to whether treatment should be strictly prophylactic (i.e. preventative), strictly abortive (i.e. immediately therapeutic), or a combination of the two.

If you are interested in taking the plunge please provide me with your email address and I will send you both a .pdf attachment of the HEADACHE DIARY we use in our clinic as well as a detailed explanation on how to use the document to collect the pertinent details.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have no further questions or comments to place- CLOSING THE QUERY would be greatly appreciated as well as your grading of our interaction with a star rating.

I'm hopeful, however, that you will be moved to request the HEADACHE DIARY which I'll be very happy to send by email if you'll supply that to me.

On this network if you wished to contact me with questions beyond the point of closing this query then, feel free to write me through my website of
