Suggest Treatment For Severe Dandruff While Treating Tinea Versicolor

Question: Previously i had tinea versicolor issue, now it is undercontrol. But still im having dantruff issue & im using scalp+ shampoo, but it didnt work. My skin is very dry. So please some loations, soap,shampoo for skin dryness & dantruff

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern.

For dandruff you may use a coal tar and salicylic acid combination shampoo e.g either protar lotion or ionax - T solution. In addition you may use ultiderm lotion for overnight scalp application for better control of dandruff. For dryness of skin you may use Venusia XXXXXXX lotion, twice daily application. Use a syndet soap e.g moisturex syndet soap or zyndet bar.

Hi.

Yes, dandruff is a very common cause of increased hair shedding. You may use
Ionax T solution (contains coal tar and salicylic acid) for shampoo every alternate day and Ultiderm lotion (contains fluocinolone acetonide) for overnight scalp application daily. Effective control of dandruff would definitely reduce hair shedding.

You may use SUNCROS SOFT SUNSCREEN during the day.
At night you may use an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) based cream e.g GLYCO - 6% CREAM.
