If your chest X-ray was clear, and the mucus is clear, I would not recommend another antibiotic. Also, levofloxacin is in the fluroquinolone family of antibiotics. These have come into question whether they should be prescribed (except in severe situations) because of the risk of unusual side effects that are possible (achilles tendon rupture for example).

As you have high blood pressure, I wouldn't recommend a decongestant such as pseudoephedrine, but if you think there may be an allergy component to your cough, an antihistamine is ok and safe. But without some allergy happening, it may not help much other than to sedate you so that you can sleep. So it is not high on my list of things that will probably help you.

You may want to consider the mucolytic medication guaifenesin. Guaifenesin has been around for a long time and is a very safe drug. It works best if you drink a lot of water with it - at least one 8-oz glass per 400 mg. Brand names for it include Mucinex.

A cough suppressant might be a good idea too, especially if the cough is keeping you awake. An over the counter medicine for this is dextromethorphan. There are preparations that have both guaifenesin and dextromethorphan in them too.

If that doesn't help suppress your cough so you can sleep, you may want to ask your doctor for a stronger cough suppressant sold by prescription, such as benzonatate or guaifenesin with codeine. If you use guaifenesin with codeine (Cheratussin AC, etc), make sure that if you also take additional guaifenesin (such as via Mucinex) that you don't exceed 100 mg guaifenesin per hour.

If your sinuses are dripping down your throat and causing the cough, consider a steroid nasal spray to stabilize your sinus membranes. Flonase is sold over the counter. It takes 2-3 days to really start to work well.

Drink hot soups and tea and get plenty of rest.
