Question: I often feel achy like I have the flu when I have any kind of stress - it doesn't have to be bad stress, could just be mental or emotional exertion. Why would that happen? Even being in a noisy environment or group situation causes this.

Brief Answer:
they are called somatic symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us.

You are already taking cymbalta, lamictal and wellbutrin. This suggests that you are having some psychiatric problem which is under control.

Stress of any type causes neurochemical changes in brain and secondary physical symptoms. When all investigations and physical examination are normal we called those achy symptoms as 'somatic symptoms'. Exact mechanism of such symptoms is not clear but many neurochemical therapies as well as psychological theories have been proposed. Cymbalta is used specifically for such symptoms.

Taking anti anxiety drug from benzodiazepine group on required basis can also help.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
