Question: Hello. I have been recently very stressed and worrying a lot. At first i thought ir was something that i was going through , but then later i kind of noticed that i was not able to convey my love to my girlfriend, This intturn made me anxious and I started asking if i love her and why am i not able to love her like before..My girlfriend however assured me that its just anxiety and that is why am feeling like that, but then now i started worrying about our future. Somedays, i dont even get sleep as my mind is constantly worried. I tried thinking things positively , i do feel good at times , but it just keeps coming back to me. Could you help me stop this worrying. Its like i need a break from it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

I can understand your concern. You have intrusive thought if you love her or not and then you start thinking why you are not able to love her like before. These thoughts are most likely due to anxiety or antucipation. This might be related to obsessive ruminations. You are not able to sleep properly and this is resulting in excessive worries.

Do you have such thoughts in other aspects of life too? Like during work or at home?

Such intrusive thoughts can be treated properly with medicines and behaviour therapy. Drugs like SSRIs can help you in controlling these thoughts. Fluoxetine or Escitalopram or Citalopram etc can be used for treatment. The drugs will reduce the unconscious anxiety you're having and will reduce your thoughts. Fluoxetine is safe to use and is free of serious side effects. You can think of using this drug, this will surely help you. Please visit a Psychiatrist for evaluation and prescription of this drug.

I'd also advise you to take proper diet rich in Omega 3 Fatty acids, vitamin B12 and folate. Take high protein diet and low in fats. This will help in improving the anxiety. Relaxation exercises like yoga, progressive muscle relaxation exercise etc also help to improve the anxiety.

So please remain hopeful with proper treatment your thoughts will decrease. Visit a Psychiatrist for help.

Thanks and Take care.
