Question: Took my son to the doctor about 2 months ago for a small lump above his belly button. Was told not to worry it was a lymph node? The last week he has been complaining his belly hurts. Yesterday he threw up and has been in horrible pain holding his belly even falling to the floor crying. Waking up in the middle of the night crying. Pointing to the exact same spot saying his belly hurts. He's 2 years old what could it be?

Brief Answer:
Many possible reasons

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM

I have gone through your question. Such severe abdominal pain of acute onset can be due to many possible reasons. It can be due to gallstones, mesenteric cyst, mesentric lymphadenitis, pancreatitis, appendicitis, bowel dysfunction or some other cause.

I would recommend you to immediately take him to pediatrician for proper clinical examination and definite management. They may suggest you an ultrasound abdomen along with laboratory work up to rule out above mentioned conditions.

For pain relief at present, you may give him acetaminophen or ibuprofen or Meftal Spas.

Hopefully this will help you. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care
