Question: I have a friend who has frequent gastric attacks; the symptoms that accompany these attacks are the following:
Abdominal pain
Feeling/being sick
severe pain when attempting to go the toilet. My age is 33, the age of the person I refer to in the question is 54

Well he is likely to be suffering from dyspepsia (acidity) related pain, however sometimes presence of ulcer or some other causes like bile stones can mimic this pain.

Worthwhile getting an sonography done to confirm the diagnosis and endoscopy which is just a 5 minutes test may clinch the diagnosis.

In addition taking an antacid like omeprazole 20 mg once a day which is easily available over the counter may help.

Also eating on time, avoiding sleeping two hours after meals
Regular walk, avoiding excess coffee, alcohol, smoking if any will help.
Taking plenty of fibre in diet, ensuring adequate water intake may help soften stools and reduce pain while defecating. Also avoid straining for stools.
