Question: **I have attached three pictures, please ignore the biggest patch as that is psoriasis I have had that patch for many years***. I have been suffering with small red itchy bumps since early this year I went to the surgery and they said it was scabies without any testing for it. I had treatment for it about five times, I spoke to the dermatologist whom I had a consultation with for light treatment for my psoriasis told me to stop using the scabies treatment as it looks like psoriasis now. They are on my stomach, arms, legs and feet. They don't appear on my face, but my scalp has felt really itchy, dry and bumpy the past few months before a wash and I am still suffering hence the pictures. My mum is suffering with red itchy dots by her belly button and waist line similar to me and there has been people itchy in work even before I suffered. What could this possibly be?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of bugs

Detailed Answer:
My Dear

Welcome to this site!

I have analyzed your description, symptoms, and pictures.

The most likely reason for the red itchy bumps as visible in the pictures seems related to the irritation caused by bugs. That your mom also has similar lesions makes it even more likely that the bugs might have infected the mattresses or the bed linen.

Such lesions have been complained of by many patients in my practice in the past especially after they had stayed in public places like hotels preceding the development of lesions. T

he best way to treat the condition is to disinfect the infected fomites and use a locally applied agent containing anti-inflammatory drug and antibiotic.
It is equally important that beds and bed linen be rid of the infection by suitable methods like dry cleaning, use of insecticide sprays, heat treatment, and storing away for few weeks. It takes several days before one improves significantly.
Use of anti allergic medication will be useful for this condition as well as for the itching due to scalp lesions.

The itching on the scalp seems to have been related to the preexisting skin condition as it is fairly common to manifest in the scalp in this way. This can be taken care of by the use of shampoos containing medications to dissolve the accumulated scales. Most of my patients reported better results after using salicylic Acid containing scalp preparations. The frequency of use can be adjusted to match one's needs.

I am sure this information helps you in seeking proper care and getting well soon.

Our best wishes!
