Suggest Treatment For Red And Swollen Blisters Around The Nose

default
Posted on Thu, 4 May 2017
Question: I have an aggressive infection inside and around my nose. The small blisters are in a circle and they form into small ulcer looking formations. The outside of my nose is red and swollen. Very painful. I am putting undiluted hydrogen peroxide and neosporin on it. It seems to be spreading. I went to a clinic and the doctor said it might be a herpe type virus but he admittedly said he was confused because it was inside my nose and I have never had any other hermetic symptoms before, and these separate small blisters are forming in a circular pattern and is now expanding outside my nose. Please help. Thank you so much for your valuable time.

Hello and welcome,

If the blisters are on one side of the nose and outside of it, it may be Shingles, which is in the herpes family. It is reactivation of the chicken pox virus.

With a herpes virus, and in particular with Shingles, it is important to get on an antiviral as soon as possible to prevent complications. With Shingles, you want to get on an antiviral ASAP. Acyclovir or Valcyclovir can be used. These are oral medications. You may also need a pain killer.

I do not think hydrogen peroxide or neosporin are the things to use as it does not sound like a bacterial infection. So please refrain from using them now.

Can you upload some good quality photos so that I can have a look? If not, can you get in to see either your own doctor or a dermatologist quickly?
