Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Kidney Stones And Slightly Enlarged Parathyroids

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Apr 2015
Question: I have had kidney stones off and on for 2 years. I believe my parathyroids are slightly enlarged. What if anything can i do to help? Im also concerned that this may be caused by a kidney dysfunction. I do urinate rather frequently. I dont drink enough fluids. I have a barely noticeable dull pain in the area of my left kidney, a dull pain on either side of my groin, and a recurring sharp pain in a specific point behind my left shoulder blade. Not sure if that has to do with strenuous work or dehydration, but it comes and goes, onset by physical activity.

Brief Answer:
Recurrent kidney stones

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

The cause for recurrent stones is definitely because of less fluid intake. Caclium and other minerals start getting concentrated when you drink less water. Here is what you should do

1. Drink atleast 6-8 glasses of plain water.
2. Avoid aerated drinks, chocolate and red meat
3. Recurrent kidney stones can cause kidney dysfunction. Please get your renal function test done
4. I would also like you to get serum calcium, phosphorus and parathyroid horomone levels tested
5. Raised PTH and calcium levels indicated enlarged parathyroid gland

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Regards
